2016 SUSSEX HERITAGE PERSON OF THE YEAR AWARD:  sponsored by Lawson Commercial

ANTHONY KINDELL

Director of Aldershaw Handmade Tiles Limited

Anthony Kindell from Aldershaw Handmade Tiles is the Sussex Heritage Person of the Year for 2016. In making the award, Sussex Heritage Trust Chairman, Dr John Godfrey said, “Down a country farm track about a mile north of Hastings is a factory whose produce contributes greatly to the conservation of many prestigious buildings and has done for the last seventeen years.  The force behind Aldershaw Handmade Tiles, is Anthony C. D. Kindell, who despite ill health, is still present daily making hand made roof and floor tiles, employing traditional methods and skills passed down by centuries of English tile makers.

“Anthony is a true and unsung hero of craftsmanship in Sussex.”
