CLARKE ROOFING SOUTHERN LIMITED, ST PETER’S CHURCH, IVORS LANE, HAMSEY, LEWES BN8 5TB

The aim of the project was to carry out the works as sympathetically as possible, with no noticeable difference in the roof appearance following the roofing works. Works consisted of retiling/reslating the roof slopes of the Nave, new guttering and overhaul of other rainwater goods.

DUNCAN BERRY, FLINTWORK ON NAB HOUSE, ITCHENOR

The client had made a decision not to use brick on this project and wanted to use a local material. A galleted style of flint was used on this contemporary project.

ANDREW HOLLOWAY, GREEN OAK TIMBER FRAME FOR THE WEALD & DOWNLAND LIVING MUSEUM GATEWAY PROJECT

The design concept was for a Gateway facility which was to connect and respond to the Museum’s collection. Timber was used throughout the building, with the Green Oak frame offering an opportunity in technical achievement, innovation and best practice in the use of timber technology.

PAUL GRANTHAM, FLINTWORK ON WESTERTON HOUSE, CHICHESTER

Improvement and restoration was needed to the 19th-century brick and flint property, which is listed Grade II and once formed part of the neighbouring Goodwood Estate. Local craftsman, Paul Grantham, carried out the flintwork incorporating galletting (also known as gameting or garreting).

R. SARAH MAYFIELD, CEILING WORK AT BORDE HILL HOUSE, BORDE HILL

Initial survey of the three historic ornament plaster ceilings of Borde Hill House dating to 1601, commissioned by Savills, followed by restoration and minor conservation works with minimal intervention using compatible materials and Elizabethan style applications.

HIGHLY COMMENDED

THE LYCH GATE FOR TODDINGTON HOUSE, LITTLEHAMPTON

Toddington House is a Grade II listed property. The brief included the design and build of a traditional handcrafted exposed oak Lych Gate structure over a new vehicular access. The gate was crafted using natural green oak and cedar shingles on the roof.

CHRIS PAYNE, REPAIRS TO TUDOR CLOSE, ROTTINGDEAN

The aim of the project was to investigate and carry out necessary and extensive repairwork to the deteriorating external gables, timberframe and building fabric, involving a detailed investigation and report.

AARON WRIGHT, RESTORATION OF EAST WINDOW, ST SAVIOUR’S CHAPEL, ARDINGLY COLLEGE, ARDINGLY

An integral part of the restoration at the Chapel was the large East window (seven lancet with tracery). The work was undertaken by Chapel Studio with a significant part of the restoration, particularly the main Christ panel, undertaken by craftsman, Aaron Wright.
